Several of our tutors recently completed Health Sciences First Year at Otago or the BHSc / BSc Biomedical Science gateway at Auckland, so they know exactly how CHEM 191 and CHEM 110 are examined and the competitive standard you need. First year is the decisive academic filter for both medical schools — strong chemistry marks directly support your rank score (Otago) or GPA (Auckland).

Year 13 Chemistry is strongly recommended for both Auckland and Otago, and chemistry is a prescribed first-year paper in both gateways. A strong chemistry foundation makes HSFY or Auckland First Year far more manageable — and every mark counts when offers in the general HSFY pool typically fall in the 93–99 range.

Yes — sessions cover the full standard content plus the internal assessment write-up technique and the external exam standards where rank-score credits are won or lost. We focus on the Excellence-grade skills (analysis, justification and linking) that lift your best 80 Level 3 credits.
