WWAMI: University of Washington School of Medicine. The University of Washington is a five-state regional school: it does not use the term "out of state" but "out of region", and Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho residents are considered in their own state's cohort rather than against the national pool. In the entering class of 2025 the five WWAMI states supplied 1,299 applicants for 263 places, while 3,976 out-of-region applicants produced 17 — so being a WWAMI resident is the single largest advantage available here.
