Adelaide runs South Australia's oldest medical school (est. 1885) as a 6-year BMS + MD (combined Bachelor of Medical Studies and Doctor of Medicine). For 2027 entry the MMI has a minimum of 6 stations of 10 minutes each, with one interviewer per station, held online over Zoom. The final composite is weighted **40% Academic / 20% UCAT-ANZ cognitive / 40% Interview**.
Minimum entry ATAR is 90.00 (adjusted selection rank), but Adelaide notes the ATAR actually needed is typically much higher and does not disclose previous cut-offs.
Interview invitations are based on UCAT ANZ alone (sections 1–3 equally weighted; the SJT only separates tied applicants at the lower end). About 600 applicants are invited, and at least 50% of school-leaver invitees are from South Australia — a material advantage for SA applicants.
Stations span ethical reasoning, communication and role-play, motivation, teamwork, and reflective insight. All interviews are held online over Zoom. Interviewers complete an Adelaide University training programme and may include staff, academic titleholders, alumni, health professionals and community members. The Rural Clinical School (Whyalla, Port Lincoln, Mount Gambier) supports a substantial rural pipeline. The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pathway has reserved places, no UCAT ANZ requirement and a separate panel interview. About 41 places are reserved for rural-background applicants, and Bonded Medical Program places carry a regional, rural or remote return-of-service obligation.
From January 2026, the University of Adelaide merges with UniSA to form Adelaide University; the BMS + MD continues under the merged institution.

Interview format
- Multiple Mini Interview with a minimum of 6 stations of 10 minutes each, one interviewer per station.
- All interviews are held online over Zoom — no in-person option.
- Stations cover ethics, communication and role-play, motivation, teamwork, reflective insight.
- Interviewers are trained by Adelaide University and may include staff, academic titleholders, alumni, health professionals and community members.
- Composite weighting: 40% Academic / 20% UCAT-ANZ cognitive / 40% Interview.
- **SA applicants have a material advantage**: about 600 applicants are invited to interview on UCAT ANZ alone, and at least 50% of school-leaver invitees are from South Australia.
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander pathway: reserved places, no UCAT ANZ, and a ~20-minute interview with a panel of three to four people.
- Rural Background pathway: about 41 reserved places, with interview priority by Year 12 location category.
- From January 2026, runs under merged Adelaide University (UoA + UniSA).
