When are Australian medicine interviews held?

Interview season runs roughly September to January. GEMSAS graduate-entry schools interview first (September–October once GAMSAT results land); undergraduate UCAT-ANZ schools follow from November as Year 12 results approach, peaking in December. How long should I spend preparing for an Australian medical interview?

Plan 40–60 hours of structured preparation: the four ethical principles, communication and role-play practice, rural and Indigenous health awareness (Closing the Gap, cultural safety), and at least 3 full mock circuits (for MMI) or mock interviews (for panel). Start as soon as you have an invite — most give only 1–3 weeks' notice.

How does NextGen MedPrep interview coaching work?

One-to-one mock interviews with current medical or dental students at the school you have been invited to. Each mock is followed by structured feedback against that school's known criteria. We cover both the Australian MMI circuit and structured panel formats, plus situational-judgement screens such as CASPer.

How quickly will I be matched with a tutor?

After you book, we match each session with a tutor who covers your school, usually within 24 hours. You then see your tutor and session time on your dashboard, and add your available hours there so we can schedule you quickly. If you already have an interview date, add it when you book so we can prioritise you.

Can I reschedule or cancel a session?

You can reschedule a tutor-led session once, as long as you give us at least 24 hours’ notice (subject to tutor availability). Sessions are non-refundable except where required by law, and changes inside 24 hours or missed sessions can’t be rescheduled. If you’re unsure you can make it, tell us as early as possible and we’ll try to find a solution.

How does pricing work?

Every package is listed above in your local currency, with no booking fees on top. Bundles cost less per session than booking the same sessions one at a time, and each bundle card shows the saving.

Most Australian medical schools use Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI) — circuits of 6-10 short stations testing different attributes. Some use structured panel interviews (2-4 interviewers, 20-40 minutes), and a few schools (e.g. Sydney) make GAMSAT-only offers with no standard interview. Your admission test gets you the invite, not the offer. Graduate-entry schools rank applicants on GAMSAT plus GPA to decide who is interviewed; undergraduate schools use UCAT-ANZ alongside your ATAR. Once you reach interview, most schools weight the interview heavily — at several schools it dominates the final ranking — so strong test scores do not guarantee a place without solid interview performance.
