Interview season
When do interviews happen?
Australian interview season runs September to January — graduate-entry first, undergraduate close behind. Here is how it typically unfolds.
Sep
First offers move
GAMSAT September results land and GEMSAS graduate-entry schools begin ranking and issuing first-round interview invites.
Oct
Graduate-entry MMIs
Most GEMSAS schools run their MMI circuits through October, alongside Notre Dame and Bond direct-entry interviews.
Nov
UCAT-ANZ schools open
Undergraduate UCAT-ANZ schools (UNSW, Adelaide, Western Sydney and others) start interviewing once Year 12 results approach.
Dec
Peak undergraduate season
The busiest stretch — undergraduate MMIs and panels run through December as ATAR-based offers are finalised.
Jan
Final rounds & offers
Late interviews wrap up and main-round offers arrive through GEMSAS and the state TACs (UAC, VTAC, QTAC, SATAC, TISC).
Invites give you 1–3 weeks’ notice — prep takes 40–60 hours.
The applicants who feel calm on the day started before the invite landed. Lock in your mock now and the deadline works for you, not against you.

What they’re really testing: Patient autonomy vs your urge to help — can you apply the four ethical principles under pressure?

Watching the registrar weigh competing priorities during a virtual ward round taught me that medicine is rarely about a single right answer — it’s about defending a reasoned one.
