What you do
The UCAT is a mandatory admissions test for most UK medical and dental schools, sat in the summer between Year 12 and Year 13. Familiarise yourself with the four sections — Verbal Reasoning, Decision Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Situational Judgement — and prepare with official materials and timed mock tests.

Academics
A-Levels Excellence
What you do
Achieving the required grades is the final academic hurdle — most medical schools ask for AAA, typically including Chemistry and Biology. Consistent revision, deep understanding of the curriculum and strong exam technique through Year 12 and Year 13 are vital, with final exams usually in May–June of Year 13.

What you do
After submitting your UCAS application, strong candidates are invited to interview between November and March. Universities use MMIs and traditional panels. Prepare to discuss your motivation, understanding of the NHS, ethical scenarios and work-experience reflections — and practise communicating clearly and confidently under pressure.
