Overview

The Exeter medicine course at a glance

Small-group learning from real clinical examples, with your first patient in the first term. Exeter teaches anatomy without dissection — imaging, plastinates, models and living anatomy — and every student spends at least a year based in Cornwall.

Teaching

How Exeter teaches medicine

"Small group learning" using "real-life clinical examples", supplemented by lectures, in a "patient-centred", "intensively supported learning environment".

What that means day to day

Case-based learning
Like PBL but more structured — the case comes with defined learning outcomes and a facilitator keeps the group on the intended path.

When you first meet patients

"You will normally meet your first patient early in the first term of your first year."

Anatomy
