About VCOM Auburn (DO)

Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) Auburn campus, opened in 2015 in partnership with Auburn University, is one of four VCOM campuses serving the rural Southeast. Located in Auburn, Alabama, the campus draws on Auburn University's biomedical and agricultural health research infrastructure. VCOM's distinctive mission is producing primary care DOs for medically underserved rural communities in Alabama and the broader Southeast.

Applications via AACOMAS. VCOM Auburn is embedded within Auburn University, giving students access to university resources and interprofessional education with Auburn's health sciences programs. VCOM's strong rural mission produces more primary care DOs per class than most osteopathic schools. The Southeast clinical network provides rotations in community health centers and rural critical-access hospitals.

Course & teaching

Integrated curriculum. 4-year DO curriculum with OMM integrated throughout all four years. Years 1–2 are campus-based with biomedical science foundations; Years 3–4 consist of core and elective clerkships at affiliated rural and community hospitals across Alabama and the Southeast. Rural medicine pathway available.
