How UCAT tutoring works

Choose your package
Pick the number of hours that fits your run-up. Every tier covers all four scored sections; the larger tiers add repeated refinement time and drop the hourly rate to as low as £44.

Check out
Enter your name, email and phone number, then pay through Stripe. Payment creates your account, so your purchase is bound to a verified email address and cannot be orphaned.

Get your confirmation
A booking confirmation email is sent once the payment clears. If it has not arrived within 24 hours, check your spam folder and then contact us.

Get matched and scheduled
We match you with a tutor and arrange your sessions around your availability. Tell us your test date at checkout if you already have one booked, so scheduling can work backwards from it.

Sit your sessions and keep practising
Sessions run online, one-to-one. Between sessions you do timed practice; the session time is spent reviewing what went wrong and fixing technique, which is what the hours are worth most on.
What happens in a UCAT tutoring session
An hour of one-to-one time is a scarce resource, so it is not spent watching someone do questions you could have done yourself. The shape of a session is: look at what you got wrong, work out why, fix the method, and leave with the next block of practice defined.

Review the practice you did since last time
Your tutor goes through the questions you got wrong and, just as importantly, the ones you got right slowly. In a timed test, a right answer that cost 90 seconds is a problem.

Diagnose the pattern, not the question
One wrong answer is noise. Six wrong answers with the same shape — always the inference question, always the second half of a QR set — is a method fault worth an hour.

Rebuild the method out loud
The tutor works a question the way they work it, narrating the decision points, then hands you one and listens to you do the same. This is the part that cannot be got from a book.

Drill it under time
Short, timed blocks on the exact question type, so the new method survives contact with the clock rather than only working when you are relaxed.

Set the next block of practice
You leave with what to do before the next session, and which numbers to bring back.

UCAT tutoring is an unregulated market with a wide price spread and some genuinely misleading advertising in it. Six things worth checking before you pay anyone, ourselves included.
- Work out the real hourly rate
- A headline "from £X per hour" is usually the largest package's rate. Divide the package price by its teaching hours and compare that. Ours runs from £50 an hour on the smallest package down to £44 on the largest, and both numbers are on this page.
- Be sceptical of any score guarantee
- No tutoring company administers the UCAT, so no tutoring company can guarantee what you score on it. A guarantee is either hedged into meaninglessness in the small print or it is a refund promise dressed up as a result. Read the terms it points at.
- Ask who is actually teaching, by name
- A page that says "expert tutors" and names nobody is telling you something. Ask for the tutor’s name, university and year, and check it against a public profile. Ours are published on our about page and linked from the roster above.
- Check what a percentile claim is a claim about
- A tutor who scored well is useful. But "top 1% tutors" with no stated year, cohort or evidence is a marketing line, not a credential, and it tells you nothing about whether they can teach.
- Find out what happens if it is not working
- Can you change tutor? What notice do you need to reschedule? What happens if you miss a session? These are the questions that matter three weeks in, and they should be answerable before you buy, not after.
- Be honest about whether you need tutoring at all
- If you have not yet done a full timed mock, do one first — it is free on this site — and see where you actually stand. Plenty of applicants get where they need to on free material and volume of practice. Tutoring earns its price when you are stuck on a specific, repeating fault and self-diagnosis has stopped working.

Our UCAT tutoring is sold as fixed-hour packages, not an hourly rate: Kickstart is £200 for 4 hours, Advance is £375 for 8 hours, Mastery is £575 for 12 hours, Elite is £800 for 18 hours. That works out at £44–£50 per hour of one-to-one teaching, and the per-hour rate falls as the package gets larger. The price you see is the price you pay — there is no joining fee, no subscription and no separate charge for materials.
