Read the guide →The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is the only dental school in the state. It trains about 80 to 85 DMD students a year, with a strong mission to address Georgia's oral health workforce needs. It was established in 1965 within the Medical College of Georgia.
It admitted its first dental students in 1969, and awarded its first DMD degrees in 1973. Co-location with Augusta University Health provides interprofessional clinical education. Its research spans oral biology, craniofacial genetics, and community dentistry.
DCG is the only dental school in Georgia, which gives it a clear public health mandate: to train dentists for the state's underserved rural and suburban communities. Augusta University is part of the University System of Georgia. DCG shares a site with the AU Health medical campus, so students get interprofessional training alongside AU medical students.
Integrated curriculum. 4-year DMD curriculum with early clinical exposure from Year 1. DCG has a large on-campus dental clinic serving Augusta and the Central Savannah River Area. Community rotation sites placed across Georgia provide rural clinical experience in Years 3–4.
