East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine, located in Greenville, North Carolina, was founded in 2011 to address the severe dental access crisis in Eastern North Carolina — one of the most underserved dental health regions in the United States. East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine uses a Multiple Mini Interview (MMI) format for invited applicants at its Greenville, North Carolina campus. Applicants rotate through a series of timed stations (typically 6–10 stations, approximately 8 minutes each), each presenting a distinct scenario or question related to ethical reasoning, communication, situational judgement, and motivation for dentistry.
