About Northeast Ohio Medical University Bitonte College of Dentistry (DDS)

Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) Bitonte College of Dentistry is a public dental school located in Rootstown, Ohio, integrated within NEOMED's health sciences university alongside its medical and pharmacy programs. It is one of only two public colleges of dentistry in Ohio. The college received initial CODA accreditation in August 2024 and matriculated its inaugural class of 52 dental students (32 from Ohio) in August 2025. NEOMED Dental is designed to produce dentists for Northeast Ohio and Ohio's underserved communities through an interprofessional curriculum, early patient contact, and strong community engagement, drawing on NEOMED's existing clinical and research infrastructure.

Applications via ADEA AADSAS. NEOMED Bitonte Dental is one of the few US dental schools co-located within a medical and pharmacy university, enabling genuine interprofessional clinical training from Year 1. Its Northeast Ohio mission and integration with NEOMED's existing community health partnerships provide meaningful service-learning opportunities.

Course & teaching

Integrated curriculum. 4-year DMD curriculum integrating biomedical sciences with early clinical and community dental experiences. Interprofessional education with NEOMED medical and pharmacy students is a core feature. Clinical training at NEOMED's dental clinic and affiliated community health sites across Northeast Ohio.

NEOMED Bitonte College of Dentistry conducts traditional one-on-one faculty and/or panel interviews at its Rootstown, Ohio campus. Interview days include a faculty interview of approximately 30–45 minutes assessing motivation for dentistry, oral-systemic health understanding, and commitment to serving Northeast Ohio communities. Candidates are assessed on manual dexterity awareness, ADA ethics, and their understanding of the dentist's role in the broader healthcare team. The day also includes clinic and simulation lab tours, interaction with current DMD students, and an information session with admissions staff. Rolling post-interview decisions are typically issued within 4–6 weeks.
