The Plymouth dentistry course at a glance
The most geographically mobile dental course in the UK: patient contact in term 2 of year 1, Exeter clinics twice a week in year 3, and the whole of year 4 based in Truro. Plan for relocation, not commuting.
How Plymouth teaches dentistry
Practical learning environments with patients from year one, using a Simulated Dental Learning Environment (SDLE) alongside clinical placements. Students work in small, integrated study groups and use forum theatre and role play to build critical appraisal skills.
What that means day to day
When you first treat patients
Patient contact begins in term 2 of year 1, after initial training in the Simulated Dental Learning Environment.
