The UCLan (Graduate Dentistry) dentistry course at a glance

A graduate-entry course of 29 students a year. Year one is in Preston; from 3rd BDS onwards you are placed in groups of eight at one of four community Dental Education Centres — Blackpool, Morecambe, Accrington or Carlisle.

Teaching

How UCLan (Graduate Dentistry) teaches dentistry

Students with a degree in a relevant subject enter directly into 2nd BDS, spent in Preston learning the techniques and theories necessary for effective dental care. From 3rd BDS onwards, groups of eight students gain clinical experience at one of the Dental Education Centres.

What that means day to day

Integrated
Basic science and clinical medicine are taught together from the start rather than as separate pre-clinical and clinical halves.
