Hidden so they don't bias your answer. Score yourself first, then reveal them to compare.
- Generic answers ('strong research reputation') are obvious filler. Name the curriculum style (PBL, integrated, case-based) and explain why it matches how you learn.
- Reference at least one specific feature you couldn't get elsewhere - a teaching hospital, a longitudinal patient cohort, anatomy provision.
- Avoid flattering for its own sake. Tutors prefer candidates who chose them for fit, not prestige.
A worked example: how a strong answer is built
A structure to adapt, not a script to memorise — examiners spot recited answers instantly.
Answer this in terms of how the course teaches, not how the university ranks. Name the curriculum style — problem-based, case-based, integrated, traditional pre-clinical/clinical, or a spiral design — and say why it matches the way you learn. "I learn by having to explain things to other people, so a problem-based course suits me" is a real reason; "strong research reputation" is filler that would be true of any school on your list.
Then name one feature you could not get from your other choices and show you know what it means in practice: early clinical contact, full-body dissection, an intercalated year, a longitudinal placement with the same patient cohort, or a particular clinical setting the school teaches in. Say what that feature would do for you.
Close on fit in both directions — what the course offers you and what you would bring to it. Interviewers are choosing colleagues for five years, so a candidate who chose them for fit is more convincing than one who chose them for prestige.
