The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine sits in Little Rock. It is the only allopathic medical school in Arkansas, and the state's primary academic medical center. UAMS was founded in 1879 and trains most of Arkansas's physicians.

Integrated curriculum. 4-year MD. Years 1–2 blend basic science foundations with early clinical exposure at UAMS Medical Center and affiliated sites. Year 3 core clerkships at UAMS Medical Center, Arkansas Children's Hospital, and the VA. Year 4 includes electives, acting internships, and rural/community health rotations across Arkansas.

How the UAMS College of Medicine (MD) interview runs
Format: Traditional one-on-one interview with faculty members
UAMS conducts a traditional interview format in which applicants meet with faculty physicians in one-on-one sessions of approximately 30–45 minutes. Interviewers review the application in advance and focus on motivation for medicine, understanding of Arkansas's healthcare challenges, and the applicant's commitment to practicing in the state.
The interview day includes campus tours, a presentation on the MD curriculum, and Q&A with current students.
