Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine was founded in 1977. It is a private bilingual medical school in Ponce, Puerto Rico's second-largest city. The school has strong biomedical research infrastructure and runs a PhD program alongside the MD. Format: Traditional individual interviews with faculty and admissions committee members
Ponce HSU holds interview day on campus in Ponce. It usually includes one or two individual faculty interviews of about 20 to 30 minutes each, then a tour of the facilities and an information session with current students. Interviewers read the full application in advance.
They focus heavily on your motivation for medicine in the Puerto Rico and Caribbean context, your community service orientation, your Spanish-language proficiency, and your cultural ties to underserved populations. The day ends with a group session with the admissions dean, and informal Q&A with students.
