Newcastle-based dental school with a panel interview, generous contextual partners scheme, and a strong work-experience expectation.

What makes it different

No use of SJT. Partners (contextual) programme accepts ethnic-minority and private-school students (recently expanded eligibility). 2026 admissions policy expects a minimum of 10 days relevant work experience - but reasonable alternatives accepted (e.g. free online courses).

Course & teaching

Case-based curriculum. Five-year BDS with case-based learning. Clinical placements at Newcastle Dental Hospital and North-East community sites.

Two Advanced Highers normally required (minimum A/B) including Biology and/or Chemistry. If only one of Biology/Chemistry is offered at Advanced Higher, grade A is required in that science. Candidates offering only one of Higher Chemistry/Biology must take the other in final year along with Advanced Higher in the first — grade A required in both.
