Albany Medical College, founded in 1839, is one of the oldest private medical schools in the United States and a component of Union University (it is not freestanding, and several US medical schools predate it). Located in Albany, New York's capital, Albany Med operates as both a medical school and the academic center of the Albany Med Health System, which includes Albany Medical Center, the only Level I trauma center in a seven-county region. Course & teaching
Integrated curriculum. 4-year MD. Integrated Patient Care Experience (IPCE) begins in Week 1 and continues all four years — students see patients longitudinally throughout pre-clerkship and maintain continuity relationships. Pre-clerkship organ-system blocks (Years 1–2) with early clinical skills. Year 3 core clerkships at Albany Medical Center. Year 4 selectives nationally and internationally.

Albany Medical College conducts traditional one-on-one or two-on-one interviews of approximately 30–45 minutes. Interviewers review the application beforehand and probe motivation for medicine, research experience, ethical reasoning, and the applicant's fit with Albany's community health mission in upstate New York. As one of the oldest private medical schools in the US, Albany Med emphasizes both academic tradition and service to the Capital Region and rural Upstate NY. The interview day includes a tour of Albany Medical Center, lunch with current students, and a financial aid briefing.
