See the course →UEA Norwich emphasises personal suitability for medicine - empathy, reflection and team working - with UCAT and SJT making up the bulk of post-interview scoring.
UCAT plays a major role both pre- and post-interview (50/50 with interview score). SJT forms part of the interview score - band 3 students have received offers in past cycles. Strong focus on suitability rather than academic ranking.
PBL curriculum. Five-year MBBS built around problem-based learning. Strong emphasis on consultation skills from Year 1. Clinical placements across Norfolk, Suffolk, and the East of England.
Norwich (UEA) is strong in these research areas:
Optional intercalated BSc/MRes - selective.

Heavy focus on personal suitability for medicine - empathy, insight into the career, reflection on experiences and team working. Invitations go out at the end of November and interviews run through December, January and February.

What is TrueScore?
A data-driven estimate of the UCAT score you'll likely need to be invited to interview at Norwich (UEA) for 2027 entry entry — based on its published cut-offs and recent admissions data. Treat it as a target to aim past, not a guarantee.
Norwich (UEA)'s TrueScore is 1700. Build a week-by-week UCAT plan that works back from your test date — free for the first two weeks.
Pre-interview shortlisting: wholly UCAT-based once GCSE minimum met. Post-interview: 50/50 between UCAT score and interview score (SJT contributes within the interview score). High UCAT scorers significantly favoured post-interview.
SJT is part of interview score. 27 students with band 3 got offers in 2024 out of total ~600.
UEA does not heavily contextualise - but the relatively low pre-interview cut-off (down to ~1640 in 2024) means lower-UCAT applicants can reach interview, although offer chances drop sharply for sub-1900 scores.
All on-time applications go through primary screening for the academic minimums, a satisfactory personal statement and reference, and a UCAT sat in the summer before applying. If applications exceed interview places, a secondary screening ranks the overall UCAT against the cohort and invites the strongest. After interview, the UCAT score and the interview score are weighted EQUALLY to rank applicants for offers - so UCAT matters twice over, but never as a gate. The SJT is folded into the interview score.
UEA wants reflective practitioners - rehearse small mistakes you have made and what you took from them. Avoid sounding rehearsed; talk fluently about healthcare experiences as a learner rather than someone who already has all the answers.
Two questions our tutors flagged as a strong fit for Norwich (UEA)’s interview style. Try answering them out loud, then open Prometheus for the model answers and follow-up tips.
