Deakin was established as a rural-focused graduate-entry MD and remains one of the strongest pipelines into Victorian rural practice. The program partners closely with the Rural Workforce Agency Victoria and GP Education programs. Deakin MMI runs around 8 stations of 8 minutes each, delivered at the Waurn Ponds (Geelong) campus or virtually depending on cycle. Examiners are clinicians and academics from the Barwon Health network; the rubric explicitly probes commitment to rural and regional Victoria.
