See the course →Glasgow is among the oldest medical schools in the English-speaking world, still using a traditional panel interview that rewards reflection and clinical reasoning.
One of the oldest medical schools in the English-speaking world. Your personal statement and reference are screened early, alongside achieved and predicted grades; UCAT scores arrive later in the cycle and are then used to allocate interviews among applicants who have already cleared that screen. Glasgow does not use the SJT at all.
PBL curriculum. Five-year MBChB built around problem-based learning groups, with early clinical exposure from Year 1.
Glasgow is strong in these research areas:
Optional intercalated BSc/MSci between Years 3 and 4.
Format: Panel interview
One 30-minute session split into two parts, Panel A and Panel B, with the same two interviewers covering both. Panel A explores your motivation for medicine and teamwork; Panel B covers communication and an ethical scenario, where you pick one of two offered. The style is conversational and nothing has to be written down.
Interviews are held online for 2027 entry.
~40-50 RUK + ~22 international + ~190 Scottish places per year (A100).

What is TrueScore?
A data-driven estimate of the UCAT score you'll likely need to be invited to interview at Glasgow for 2027 entry entry — based on its published cut-offs and recent admissions data. Treat it as a target to aim past, not a guarantee.
Glasgow's Scottish-tier TrueScore is 1870. Build a week-by-week UCAT plan that works back from your test date — free for the first two weeks.
Wholly UCAT-based shortlisting once academic minimums met. Cohort-specific cut-offs published per cycle. Personal statement reviewed post-interview only. SJT not used.
Not considered
294 home places (269 standard + 25 Widening Participation). WP applicants face a lower UCAT bar in practice. International ranked separately with a higher cut-off.
Glasgow states plainly that it does not consider the SJT. Thresholds differ by applicant group because intake numbers for Home, Rest of UK and International are set by the Scottish Government and Scottish Funding Council, and they move each year with the strength of the cohort. Personal statement and reference are screened before UCAT is applied, not afterwards.
Glasgow rewards reflection. Frame answers around what you have learnt from a situation rather than just describing it. Know the structural differences between the Scottish and English NHS, and be ready to reach a clear conclusion when working through ethical scenarios.
Two questions our tutors flagged as a strong fit for Glasgow’s interview style. Try answering them out loud, then open Prometheus for the model answers and follow-up tips.
