How to read this table

  • Who can apply comes from the fee-status restriction recorded for the school, or from a statement in its record that international students cannot apply (quoted). Otherwise a school with any international figure on record is shown as open to both.
  • International places is the international or overseas figure in the school’s intake record, quoted beneath. A figure that matches an interview count elsewhere in the same record is left out rather than published as places.
  • International UCAT pairs the NGMP TrueScore prediction for the international tier (not a published threshold) with the school’s own statement where the record holds one. Offer rate is the international post-interview figure the school published, with its year where stated.
  • Fees are not shown: our records do not hold them. Check each school’s international fees page.
  • Not published means the school’s record in our catalogue holds no figure or statement for that cell. We leave the gap visible rather than estimate it; check the school’s own admissions page.
  • Last checked reports what our verification ledger records for that school: the date its record was checked against the school’s own page, a partial check, or that no check has been completed. Policies change between cycles, so the school’s own page is always the final word.

Frequently asked questions

Which UK medical schools accept international students?
47 of 51. The exceptions recorded are Anglia Ruskin (ARU), Edge Hill, Pears Cumbria (GEM) and Sunderland, which take home applicants only.
Which UK medical schools take only international students?
Hertfordshire, St Mary's Twickenham and University of Greater Manchester. Hertfordshire: Home places are expected from 2027 entry, subject to government approval — verify before spending a UCAS choice. St Mary's Twickenham: Home applicants are withdrawn under current policy; the school expects to open to home students in a future cycle but has given no date. University of Greater Manchester: No DHSC/NHS England home allocation yet — the school says it will post an update on its website if that changes.
How many international places do UK medical schools have?
Few. Of the 25 schools whose intake record gives an international figure, the largest is Imperial College London (74 overseas) and the smallest ~10 international (Keele, Lancaster and Swansea (GEM)). The records for Imperial College London and Oxford note a government cap on places.
Is it harder to get an offer as an international applicant?
At 16 of the 21 schools that publish both a home and an international post-interview rate, the international rate is lower. International rates in the records range from 14% at Cambridge to 93% at Newcastle; the table shows each school's figure and year.
