Overview

About St George's

UK's only specialist medical and health sciences university dedicated solely to medicine.

What makes St George's different

Strong holistic-care and soft-skills emphasis. SJT used post-interview in offer making (B1 = 15 pts, B2 = 10, B3 = 5, B4 = nothing). St George's is also generous with deferred-entry offers, often made to borderline applicants in lieu of rejection.

How the St George's interview runs

Format: Multiple Mini Interviews (MMI)

A six-station MMI, each station around five minutes with a 60-second break between, delivered through SAMMI (Scalable Automated Multiple Mini Interviews) software. Each station is assessed separately by a different interviewer and may ask a question, set a practical task, or run a role play.

UCAT Selection at St George's
Weighting

Wholly UCAT-based shortlisting once the entry criteria are met: applicants are ranked by total UCAT and interview places go to the highest scorers until filled. A minimum of 500/900 in each cognitive subsection applies. The cut-off is set each year against that cohort and City St George's says it cannot be predicted from previous years. SJT contributes post-interview to offer making (B1=15, B2=10, B3=5, B4=0).

SJT band

SJT used post-interview in offer making. Combined with MMI score → B1=15 pts, B2=10, B3=5, B4=none.

Contextual / WP eligibility

St George's is generous with deferred-entry offers - borderline applicants often receive deferred offers in place of rejection. WP routes available with reduced thresholds.

Once the entry criteria are met, applicants are ranked by UCAT score and interview places are allocated from the top down until they run out. A minimum of 500/900 is required in each individual cognitive subsection. UCAT may also be used to rank the post-interview waiting list, and the SJT band is considered in decision-making for 2026 entry.

Tutor insight
Plan a tight answer structure - a one-line general response, two or three specific examples, then a summary - because 4-minute stations punish anyone who waffles. Speak at a steady pace; rushing to fill time hurts more than ending a few seconds early.

FAQ

St George's — frequently asked questions

Home applicants: No predictable threshold. City St George's states that it is not possible to predict what the UCAT thresholds will be in any given year, nor to use previous years' data to predict them. The cut-off is set annually against the strength of that year's scores..
