Applicants rank a campus preference in the GEMSAS application (preferences are considered but not guaranteed, as quotas apply); BMedSci pathway entrants are not allocated to Sunshine Coast.
Griffith's 4-year graduate MD is based at the Gold Coast campus (next to Gold Coast University Hospital) or the Sunshine Coast Health Institute at Birtinya.
A new Toowoomba teaching location carries 10 unencumbered CSPs from 2027, but it is not selectable at application — students who have already accepted Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast offers are invited to transfer in early November 2026. Early clinical contact in Phase 1 is through the General Practice Longitudinal Program and community placements; hospital rotations start in Year 3.
Strong rural (GURPAS) and First Peoples pathways — but neither is a separate interview stream. GURPAS gives competitive rural applicants priority access to the MD and does not itself make a place bonded; First Peoples applicants sit no GAMSAT and no GUMSAA at all, going instead to a dedicated panel interview.
Pre-interview ranking weights GAMSAT and GPA broadly equally; the MMI then carries substantial weight in the final composite.
Integrated curriculum. 4-year graduate MD run in phases: Phase 1 Foundations (1.5 years) and Phase 2 Transitions (1.5 years) before the final clinical phase.
Years 1-2 (Phase 1 and the first block of Phase 2) are campus-based at the Gold Coast (Southport) or the Sunshine Coast Health Institute (Birtinya), with community and general-practice placements via the GP Longitudinal Program; from 2027 these pre-clinical years can also be taken at the Toowoomba Rural Clinical School.
Years 3-4 are hospital placements across Gold Coast University Hospital, Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service (including SCUH and Gympie), Logan, QEII, Wesley and Tweed Valley, plus year-long Rural Longlook placements for up to 25 students per cohort (Toowoomba, Dalby, Kingaroy, Stanthorpe, Warwick, Beaudesert).
Interview is GUMSAA — a recorded, self-scheduled online assessment of 6 scenario questions, held in a single week in September.

Format: GUMSAA — an asynchronous, one-way recorded online MMI delivered on the SAMMI (Scalable Automated Multiple Mini Interviews) platform, self-scheduled within a set window. Griffith's 2026-27 SAMMI applicant guide specifies 6 pre-recorded scenario questions with a 60-second break between each and roughly 1 hour allowed end to end (including sound/Wi-Fi checks and an upload of up to 15 minutes). There is no live interviewer. The guide gives the response time inconsistently (an overview stating 'up to 5 minutes' per question and a later page stating the station 'will last 4 minutes'), so treat per-question timing as approximately 4-5 minutes and check the guide issued for your own cycle.
Griffith MMI runs as GUMSAA (Griffith University Multi Station Admissions Assessment) — scenario-based, online, held September. Griffith publishes the format. Six scenario questions, each introduced by a pre-recorded video, with a 60-second break between questions and about an hour allowed in total including equipment checks and an upload of up to 15 minutes.
You record your answers alone to camera — there is no live interviewer, the interview must be completed in one sitting, no notes or reading materials are permitted and your desk must be clear, and Griffith requires a mirror behind you so assessors can see your screen on the recording.
Questions probe communication, an empathetic and ethical approach, a reflective manner, problem-solving, teamwork and decision-making, and are never released in advance. The GUMSAA score itself is based solely on interview performance, but the final offer rank is a 50:50 combination of that interview score and your GPA/GAMSAT selection rank.
2027 cycle: 208 domestic places (148 CSP + 60 BMP), of which about 80 are reserved for Griffith and UniSC Bachelor of Medical Science pathway students, plus up to 35 international — up to ~243 in total. Griffith interviews around 200 candidates at GUMSAA for approximately 110-120 places.

| Bonded / rural | BMP places carry a Return of Service Obligation of 156 weeks (3 years) working as a medical practitioner in eligible regional, rural and remote areas after completing the medical course. Entry via GURPAS does not itself make a place bonded — Griffith distributes bonded and unencumbered CSP places across both rural and non-rural applicants, and there is no rural service requirement unless you are admitted to a BMP place. GURPAS rural priority: at least 5 consecutive or 10 cumulative years since birth in an MM2-MM7 area. Griffith's dedicated GURPAS page — the page GEMSAS directs applicants to — specifies the 2023 Modified Monash Model, checked via the Health Workforce Locator with the year set to 2023. Note Griffith's Pathways to Medicine page still cites the 2019 model; the two classify some addresses differently, so check both and confirm with Griffith admissions before relying on borderline eligibility. BMedSci provisional UG pathway has 28.5% BMP-reserved places. BMedSci provisional pathway, 2026 entry: the lowest adjusted ATAR/rank to receive an offer was 99.90 at Gold Coast and 99.95 at Brisbane South (Nathan). These are lowest-offer outcomes for that cycle, not guaranteed cut-offs. Eligible rural applicants assessed as rural by QTAC receive a 0.05 ATAR/rank adjustment. |

Griffith's early clinical exposure runs through the GP Longitudinal Program and community placements rather than hospital wards in year 1 — hospital rotations begin in Year 3. Show you understand what longitudinal primary-care contact changes about your learning, day-to-day. And remember no one is watching live: GUMSAA responses are recorded and reviewed afterwards, so there is no examiner to read the room or prompt you. Be ready with concrete examples of how you handle clinical environments, communication with patients, and team-based work. Griffith's 2026-27 SAMMI applicant guide sets GUMSAA at 6 recorded questions with a 60-second break between each and roughly 4-5 minutes to answer (the guide gives both figures), so pacing matters — with only six chances and no interviewer to steer you or follow up, don't bank on recovering from a weak answer. Check the guide issued for your own cycle, since the count is published per cycle rather than fixed in policy.
